personal statement

Music is a living exchange between people. It moves, tells stories, and can create lasting change.

As a child, I began playing the violin to make music together with my family and friends. Experiencing music as a unifying force continues to shape my artistic work to this day.

In my solo performances, I seek direct communication with the audience and the creation of shared musical experiences. Even as a freelance concertmaster, I am particularly fascinated by the social and communicative aspects of making music. Working in an orchestra sharpens my senses and develops flexibility, sensitivity, and assertiveness.

My love for opera and orchestral sound stems from my early time in the children’s choir at the Semperoper Dresden, where I gained a special access to this imaginative world that continues to inspire me. The concept of the Gesamtkunstwerk runs through the programs I create, whether in duo projects with Patricia Kopatchinskaja, chamber music at the Heidelberger Frühling, or in innovative concert formats that leave a lasting impression on the audience. Creativity, communication, and the joy of making music together form the heart of my artistic work.

“[…] She expressively pushes the boundaries of resolution.

At times it seems as if she is drifting or lifting off into other spheres, in the way that she senses every tiny impulse of the score, revives it, makes it vibrate.

This woman is a volcano. Fantastic. […]”

“[…] The transition into the Passacaglia in G minor for Violin from the Rosary Sonatas by Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber emerged as if cast from a single mold.

Violinist Charlotte Thiele let it resound from the center of the audience space in the Orangerie, imbuing it with a mystical, enigmatic hue.

Spiritual, poignant, and with strikingly clear contours, her interpretation resembled an introspective dialogue with herself, gazing deep into the soul. […]”
