Biography
Charlotte Thiele, born in 2000 in Dresden, is one of the most promising violinists of her generation. As a soloist, she has performed with orchestras such as the MDR-Sinfonieorchester, the Göttinger Symphonieorchester, the Philharmonisches Orchester Kiel, the Hofer Symphoniker, the Magdeburgische Philharmonie, the Anhaltische Philharmonie Dessau, and the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt.
Her concerts have taken her to prestigious venues, including the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, the Kulturpalast Dresden, the Nikolaisaal in Potsdam, the Markgräfliches Opernhaus in Bayreuth, and the Great Hall of the Berliner Philharmonie.
In the 2025 season, she will make her debut with the Dresdner Philharmonie at the Kulturpalast, performing Brahms’ Double Concerto with her brother Friedrich Thiele.
Charlotte has a deep passion for chamber music. She frequently performs with her brother in renowned venues such as the Semperoper Dresden and the Frauenkirche Dresden. She has also worked with other distinguished musicians, including Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Julia Hagen, Sharon Kam, Bryan Cheng, Kiveli Dörken, Can Çakmur, and Till Fellner. Charlotte is a regular guest at festivals such as the Heidelberger Frühling, the IMPULS Festival, Immenklang, Neuland, the Weilburger Schlosskonzerte, and the Young Artist Festival Bonn. In the 2024/2025 season, she will debut in chamber music at the Alte Oper Frankfurt and Kulturhaus Wiesbaden.
In the 2017–2018 and 2022–2023 seasons, Charlotte was Artist-in-Residence at the IMPULS Festival for New Music and with the Bad Reichenhaller Philharmoniker.
Since the 2023/2024 season, she has been concertmaster of the Giuseppe Sinopoli Academy with the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden. Additionally, she has been invited as guest concertmaster by such esteemed institutions as the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Stuttgart, the Dresdner Philharmonie, the Musikalische Akademie Mannheim, the MDR-Sinfonieorchester, the Kammerakademie Potsdam, and the Württembergische Kammerorchester Heilbronn.
Charlotte is also committed to music outreach and creative projects: As a TONALi Academy artist, she initiated a pilot project for musical development through composition in collaboration with Rhapsody in School and composer Alex Vaughan, which has been established at a high school in Cologne.
She has received significant guidance in masterclasses with violinists such as Gerhard Schulz, Christian Tetzlaff, Julia Fischer, Augustin Hadelich, and Patricia Kopatchinskaja. Charlotte studied as a young student under Natalia Prischepenko at the University of Music Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar with Friedemann Eichhorn and Sönke Reger.
Charlotte plays a French violin from 1775, generously lent by Dr. med. Peter Hauber.
